Downtown has been under major renovations lately.  Here's what's going on...

LITTLE HOUSE/OLD BARBER SHOP - Jim "Stoney" Whitehouse has moved into the renovated house and not only lives there but also has the front room open to display and sell his incredible woodcarvings, jewelry and furniture.  Be sure to stop by when you see the OPEN sign on the street.

THE OLD POST OFFICE -

THE APPLE HOUSE is finally finished.  Madisonville Contractors did an incredible job on it.  Since there was no roof, floor, or interiors walls to get in their way things actually went pretty quickly.  Teresa Anthony has opened the APPLE HOUSE GALLERY to support and promote regional artists.  She will be sharing space with Barbara Rudd of BOXWOOD ANTIQUES, ETC.  Barbara carries beautiful French, English, & German pieces as well as French soaps, needlepoint pillows, Etc.  Be sure to give her pooch Molly a pat on the head.

OLD LODGE BLDG. - Nancy & Ricky West have  opened WANAMAKER LEE'S VINTAGE DEPT. STORE.  They have everything you might need or want for your collection.  You'll find everything from estate jewelry to antique barware.  They'll have just the piece you were looking for and you'll get plenty of kisses from Klondike & Snow while you're browsing.  They are expanding to upstairs if you'd like to rent a booth there.  Also for you ladies, come down and join the Red Hat Society.

OLD KING CABINET SHOP - Now MAPLE LEAF LANE , offering a wonderful selection of home furnishings and hand crafted furniture. From custom painted shelves to pillows, rugs & candles, there is something for everyone..  Come try the great, new selection of teas and cookies.

Tom Tucker has opened TOM'S PHOTO SHOP just across the street from Hanson school.  He does a beautiful job on weddings, sports, family groups, and individuals.  Give him a call today to set up an appointment.

Carlos is still making the best sandwiches around at the Country Market.  Be sure to stop by for breakfast or lunch and be sure to try the homemade sourdough bread.

Pepper's Old Books - As always, for the best selection in the Tri-State come see Kathy for that hard to find title or special First Edition.

All the merchants recently pitched in on a SHOP HISTORIC HANSON sign that was erected by the Outlet Mall as well as a new Hanson Brochure.  Tell all your friends about the great shops in Hanson.

John Paul Clark has shot a documentary on the History of Hanson so that some of the old stories will be preserved.  It features interviews with Carl & LeRoy Veazy as well as Lucille Shadrick and Historical Society President Harold Utley.  It  is now available for viewing in the Archives/History Room @ City Hall, at the school library, and for sale to the public in various shops.  They're only $12.50 and $2.00 from each sell goes to Hanson School.

If you are interested in selling at a Hanson Farmer's & Crafter's Market please contact Lu Haywood @ 322-8545.  All items must be home grown or hand made.  Market will be located by City Hall on Thursdays starting Mid June running through September.

Mule Days is staying in Hanson!!!  Always the first Saturday in May!

A brown HISTORIC DISTRICT sign will soon be erected on the Pennyrile Parkway at the Hanson Exits.  We are awarded an $8,000.00 grant but still have to pay an additional $2,000.00 but it will be great advertisement for our town.

The Merchants have pitched in on a billboard that is located in Terry Brown's field.  We're doing all we can to bring business to the new shops.

 Please support your local merchants.
